The Heritage Ensemble will present Feel the Spirit!, A Musical Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Illinois Central College in the Performing Arts Center.  This concert will feature beautiful melodies that have sustained people for generations.  These spirituals will provide a time of reflection, inspiration, hope for a better tomorrow, and well as help us to live the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Tickets availble through the Arts Partners.

Steal Away, Deep River, Joshua Fit ‘de Battle of Jericho, Sometimes, I Feel Like a Motherless Child, Don’t You Let Nobody Turn You ‘Round, We Shall Overcome

As we journey through our eighth year of existence, we take the time to reflect upon our history as The Heritage Ensemble - how we began, what has sustained us, a continuing commitment to our mission statement, and community support.  All of these things prompt the music that we perform.

The beautiful melodies that we share with you have served as the staple in performances by The Heritage Ensemble.  Whether we were performing in many venues in Peoria, in Iowa, at Carnegie Hall, or in Paris, Texas, the birth place of our artistic director, we have performed with dignity and pride, these simple yet complex melodies that have withstood the test of time.
